The youth of our ward, and their AMAZING leaders, organized a lovely fundraiser to raise money for a special multi-stake youth conference held in Auckland. The conference is a weeklong event, similar to an Especially For Youth (EFY) program in the States. Everyone worked hard for months preparing for the fundraiser, and it was a smashing success. The food was amazing, the decor was enchanting and very classy, the music was great, and spending the evening with some of our wonderful kiwi friends made for a very fun and memorable night.
The youth dressed in black and were our servers for the event. Julia stayed home to watch some of our kids (the conference is for youth 14+ and she's only 13, boo hoo!), but we bought a ticket for Emily and brought her as our date for the night. She felt so special, and we really enjoyed having some private time with her. Here are a few collages with highlights from the evening…
As usual, Emily took over the dance floor the minute the music began…she never stood still enough for us to take a clear photo! She is our dancing queen. :)
**Note: As I publish this post, Rachel is on the bus on her way back home from the youth conference in Auckland! We haven't had very much communication throughout the week, but the snippets she has given reassure us that it's been a pretty amazing experience for her. We can't wait to get all the details. Hopefully Rachel has taken a few photos, and I will try to talk her into composing a post for the blog. :)
