Queenstown

We couldn't see any part of Queenstown from the sheltered valley of Moke Lake, so we were awestruck on the short drive from camp back into town, when these views greeted us:

Quite a change from the gloomy, stormy day before.  Yep...we knew pretty quick that it was going to be an awesome day in Queenstown.

Since everyone was ready for a break from sandwiches, we grabbed a few pizzas and some bakery items and picnicked at a sports field in town:

We had been looking forward to riding the gondola to the top of the town, but holy cow...I don't think any of us expected such glorious views!

Stunning.

There is a beautiful lodge at the top of the mountain, with restaurants, shops, viewing platforms, and a bungy jump, but we enjoyed the luge course the most:

Ice cream cones all around!

How lucky are we that our Queenstown day fell on a sunny, glorious, wind-free day, the first of our trip to that point?!  I know I speak for everyone when I say that it was one of the most visually satisfying days of our lives.  Here are a few last pics from the top:

We *heart* Queenstown.
