We drove straight from our Milford Sound tour back through Fiordland National Park and then on to Queenstown (4 hours). We considered stopping in Queenstown for the night, since we'd spent over six hours in the car in addition to the three hour boat ride in Milford, but everyone was feeling pretty good, so we decided to have dinner in Queenstown then bust out the last hour or so to Wanaka. We grabbed some pizzas and went back to the same park where we had eaten lunch a few days before. This time, there were some co-ed rugby matches being played on the field, as well as some parasailers who were using the unused portions of the field as a landing zone. Busy place! Lots of things to see and enjoy, so it was the perfect place to stop.
Back to Wanaka for the night, to a basic facility campground called Albert Town:
Night #8... still smiling and having a wonderful time.
