Good News from Layton High School

Several weeks ago, when we had made the decision to buy the home in Kaysville, which would mean that Rachel would be attending Layton High, I encouraged her to contact the choir director to get information about the show choirs (if you're reading this and are a little confused as to all this Kaysville/Layton High business, see the last post, "Change of Plans").  Since I had attended Layton myself and had participated in the show choirs, I hoped for Rachel to possibly have the same opportunity.  I didn't want to pressure her, though, so I made the suggestion and then let her take the lead.

Needless to say, I was very pleased when Rachel expressed genuine interest in participating in the choirs and emailed the director, Mrs. Stevens.  Rachel explained our situation, and received a reply from Mrs. Stevens that she would be happy to accept a video audition from Rachel, which Rachel promptly prepared and sent back to the teacher.  The follow-up email was positive and encouraging, but then a few weeks passed with no word (we figured that the actual auditions were being held in Utah during this time).

Imagine my reaction when Rachel approached me with a big smile on her face and shared this good news:

Such exciting news!  My hope is that Rachel will enjoy her experience as much as I did, and will make great memories and lifelong friends.
